Abstract:
Standardisation has been one of the main contributors to the success of mobile telecoms over the last two decades. Focus in the mobile telcommunications has currently shifted from mobile voice to mobile broadband. This session will give insight in the evolution of standards for mobile communications from GSM over WCDMA/HSPA to LTE and beyond. Motivation and drivers for the evolution in standards will be discussed based on current and future mobile broadband needs, as well as the typical timeline from standardisation specifications to commercial deployment.
